In these Terms and Conditions, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Teresa Johnston Counselling. “You” and “your” refer to anyone using our website, booking counselling services, purchasing a digital product or otherwise engaging with our services.
Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before using the website, booking a session or making a purchase. By using the website, making a booking or completing a purchase, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.
These Terms and Conditions should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

3. Our services
Teresa Johnston Counselling provides person-centred counselling and mindfulness-based support for adults. Services may be provided in person in Falkirk, online or by another method agreed with you.
We may also offer digital products from time to time. These may include online courses, workshops, guided resources, downloadable materials, recordings, educational content, memberships, live sessions or other digital wellbeing resources.
Digital products may be made available, changed, paused, updated or withdrawn at any time. We are not obliged to continue offering any particular course, product, format, price or level of access.
Where a digital product is available for purchase, the relevant product page, checkout page and order confirmation will set out the key information that applies to that purchase. This may include the price, what is included, delivery method, access arrangements and any relevant technical requirements.
The information shown at the point of purchase forms part of the agreement between you and us for that specific product.
4. Age requirements
Our counselling services, digital products and website are intended for adults aged 18 and over.
By booking a service or purchasing a digital product, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old.
5. Website information and wellbeing disclaimer
The information on this website and in our digital products is provided for general educational, self-reflective and wellbeing purposes only.
Website content and digital products are not a substitute for counselling, psychotherapy, medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, crisis support or emergency assistance. Accessing a digital product or using website content does not create a therapeutic relationship between you and Teresa Johnston Counselling.
If you are in immediate danger, believe that you or another person may be at risk of serious harm, or require urgent support, call 999, attend your nearest Accident and Emergency department or contact an appropriate emergency or urgent-care service.
You are responsible for deciding whether a digital product, website resource or other content is suitable for your circumstances. Please seek support from an appropriately qualified professional where needed.
6. Counselling services
Initial contact and suitability
You may contact us through the website, email, telephone or TidyCal booking system. We may offer a free introductory call before counselling begins.
An introductory call is an opportunity to discuss whether counselling may be suitable. It is not counselling, crisis support, diagnosis or treatment.
A booking for an initial session does not guarantee that ongoing counselling will be offered. We may decide not to proceed, pause counselling or recommend another service where we reasonably consider that this would be safer, more appropriate, outside our competence or necessary to meet professional and ethical responsibilities.
Counselling agreement
Before or at the beginning of counselling, you will receive separate client-agreement information covering matters including confidentiality, its limits, fees, payment arrangements, cancellations, attendance, online-session arrangements, record keeping, safeguarding, complaints and ending counselling.
Your counselling client agreement forms part of the agreement between us. Where there is any conflict between these Terms and Conditions and the counselling client agreement, the counselling client agreement will take priority in relation to the therapeutic relationship.
Appointments and attendance
Appointments may be booked through TidyCal or another method agreed with us. Please ensure that your contact details and booking information are accurate.
If you need to rearrange or cancel an appointment, please contact us as soon as possible or use the booking arrangements provided to you. Any applicable notice period, cancellation charge or missed-session fee will be clearly explained before booking or in your counselling client agreement.
We may need to rearrange an appointment due to illness, emergency, circumstances outside our reasonable control or another significant reason. Where this happens, we will make reasonable efforts to offer an alternative appointment. If an alternative is not possible, any payment made for the affected session will be refunded.
Online counselling sessions
Where counselling is provided online, you are responsible for ensuring that you have a suitable device, private space, stable internet connection and the necessary software or access details.
Online sessions must not be recorded, shared, broadcast or observed by another person without prior agreement.
7. Counselling cancellations and statutory cancellation rights
Where you book a counselling session online, by telephone, email or another distance method, you may have a legal right to cancel the booking within 14 days of making the contract.
If you ask us to provide a counselling session during that 14-day period, you agree that the service may begin before the cancellation period has ended. If you later cancel after the service has started, we may charge for the part of the service already provided where permitted by law.
If the counselling service has been fully provided following your request for it to begin during the cancellation period, your statutory right to cancel may no longer apply.
Nothing in this section removes or limits any cancellation, refund or consumer rights that you have by law.
8. Digital products and online content
General information
We may make digital products available through Payhip or another platform selected by us. These products may be self-paced, live, recorded, downloadable, time-limited, subscription-based or provided in another digital format.
Unless expressly stated otherwise on the relevant product page, digital products are provided for general educational, self-reflective and wellbeing purposes only. They do not include one-to-one counselling, therapeutic support, medical advice, diagnosis, treatment or an ongoing therapeutic relationship.
Product information
The relevant product page will describe the main features of the digital product available at that time. This may include the format, materials included, delivery method, access period, availability of live elements, price and technical requirements.
Please read the relevant product information carefully before purchasing. You are responsible for deciding whether the product is suitable for your circumstances.
Technical requirements
You are responsible for ensuring that you have suitable internet access, a compatible device, an up-to-date web browser, a functioning email address and any other requirements stated on the relevant product page.
We are not responsible for delays, inability to access content or loss of access caused by your device, browser settings, internet connection, spam filters, email settings or other matters outside our reasonable control.
Access and availability
Digital products may be provided through Payhip or another third-party platform. Following successful payment, access details will normally be provided using the email address supplied at checkout.
Access is personal to you and must not be shared with another person. You are responsible for keeping account details, passwords, access links and downloaded materials secure.
Any access period, expiry date, subscription period or availability limit will be shown on the relevant product page or at checkout. We do not guarantee lifetime access unless this is expressly stated at the time of purchase.
We may update, amend, replace, pause or remove digital content where reasonably necessary, including to correct errors, improve content, maintain security, respond to legal or technical changes, or discontinue a product.
We will not make a material change that significantly reduces a purchased product without a valid reason and appropriate notice.
Payments and pricing
All prices will be shown clearly before checkout. Prices are stated in pounds sterling unless otherwise stated.
Payment is processed through Payhip and the payment provider available at checkout. We do not receive or store your full payment-card details.
We may correct obvious errors in pricing, descriptions or availability before accepting an order. If this affects your order, we will contact you and give you the option to proceed at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
Order acceptance
Your submission of an order through Payhip is an offer to purchase the relevant digital product.
Your order is accepted when payment has been successfully processed and you receive confirmation or access details through Payhip.
If payment fails, is reversed, is subject to a chargeback or cannot be authorised, we may suspend or cancel access to the relevant product.
Payhip operates its own platform and payment arrangements. Its own terms, end-user licence and privacy information may also apply to your use of its service.
9. Digital-content cancellation and refunds
Your statutory rights
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions affects your legal rights. Digital content must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose where the law requires this.
If a digital product is faulty, unavailable, not as described or otherwise does not meet your legal rights, please contact us at
hello@sunriseholistic.co.uk so that we can investigate and provide an appropriate remedy.
Immediate access to digital content
Some digital products may be made available immediately after purchase.
Where you choose immediate access, the checkout process will ask you to expressly request immediate supply of the digital content and acknowledge that you will lose your 14-day right to cancel once supply has started.
Where you have given that express consent and acknowledgement, you will not usually be entitled to cancel for a change of mind after access to the digital content has been provided.
If we have not obtained the required express consent and acknowledgement before supplying digital content immediately, your statutory cancellation rights will continue to apply.
Products including services or live elements
Some digital products may include live sessions, workshops, calls, support, subscriptions or other service elements. Where this applies, the relevant product page will explain the arrangements that apply.
If you ask us to begin providing a service during the 14-day cancellation period and later cancel, we may charge a proportionate amount for the service already provided where permitted by law.
How to cancel
To cancel a purchase where you have a legal cancellation right, please send a clear statement of your decision to cancel to
hello@sunriseholistic.co.uk.
Please include your name, email address, order number, product name and purchase date.
You may use the following wording, although you do not have to use this exact form:
I give notice that I cancel my contract for the purchase of [insert product name], ordered on [insert date]. Name: [insert name]. Email address: [insert email address]. Order number: [insert order number].
Where a refund is due, it will normally be made using the original payment method within the period required by law.
10. Intellectual property and permitted use
All intellectual-property rights in our website, branding, digital products, videos, audio, worksheets, documents, downloads, graphics, written materials and other content belong to Teresa Johnston Counselling or are used with appropriate permission.
When you purchase a digital product, you receive a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to access and use the content for your own private, non-commercial purposes.
You must not, without our prior written permission:
- share, sell, resell, copy, distribute, publish, upload, transmit or reproduce digital-product materials;
- share your login, access link, password or download with another person;
- record, screen-record, photograph or reproduce videos, audio, live sessions or other protected content;
- use our content to create, market or deliver your own course, training, product or service;
- remove copyright notices, branding or other ownership information;
- upload our content to artificial-intelligence tools, databases, public websites or file-sharing platforms; or
- use our website, digital products or content in a way that is unlawful, abusive, fraudulent or infringes another person’s rights.
We may suspend or end your access to a digital product if we reasonably believe that you have breached this section. This does not affect any rights or remedies available to us by law.
11. Website use
You may use our website for lawful, personal and non-commercial purposes only.
You must not use the website in a way that damages, disables, overburdens or impairs it, interferes with other users, introduces harmful material, attempts unauthorised access or breaches applicable law.
We may update, withdraw, restrict or change any part of the website without notice where reasonably necessary.
12. Links to third-party websites
Our website may include links to third-party websites and services, including Payhip, TidyCal, Counselling Directory, social media platforms, payment providers and video-conferencing services.
These third-party websites and services are not under our control. We are not responsible for their content, availability, security, terms, privacy practices or use of your information.
13. Privacy and data protection
We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Where you purchase a digital product through Payhip or use another third-party platform, that provider may process your personal information under its own privacy policy and terms.
14. Complaints
If you are unhappy with a website service, digital product, booking or purchase, please contact us first at
hello@sunriseholistic.co.uk. We will aim to respond fairly and as promptly as reasonably possible.
Where your concern relates to counselling services, further information about the complaints process will be provided in the counselling client agreement.
If your complaint concerns how we handle your personal information, please see our Privacy Policy.
15. No guarantee of outcomes
We will provide counselling services with reasonable care and skill and will take reasonable care in creating and providing our digital products.
However, counselling, mindfulness and self-guided learning are personal processes. We cannot guarantee any particular therapeutic, emotional, personal, financial, health or wellbeing outcome from counselling, digital products or website content.
16. Liability
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
We are not responsible for losses that are not reasonably foreseeable, losses caused by matters outside our reasonable control, or losses arising because you have used website or digital-product content in a way that is inconsistent with these Terms and Conditions or the relevant product description.
We are not responsible for business losses, loss of profit, loss of opportunity, loss of goodwill or indirect losses where you use a digital product as a consumer. This does not affect any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
17. Events outside our control
We will not be responsible for a delay or failure to perform our obligations where this is caused by an event outside our reasonable control. This may include illness, serious emergency, internet or technology failure, power failure, severe weather, industrial action, public-health restrictions or failure of a third-party platform.
Where this happens, we will take reasonable steps to minimise disruption and, where appropriate, offer an alternative arrangement or refund.
18. Changes to these Terms and Conditions
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time, including where we introduce, remove or change digital products, update our systems, change our business practices or need to reflect legal, regulatory or technical developments.
The most current version will be published on this website and will show the date it was last updated.
Changes will apply to future website use, bookings and purchases. The version of the Terms and Conditions in force when you make a purchase or booking will normally apply to that purchase or booking, unless a change is required by law, is clearly in your favour or we give you appropriate notice of a material change.
19. Other important terms
If any part of these Terms and Conditions is found to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining terms will continue in full force.
If we do not immediately enforce a right under these Terms and Conditions, this does not mean that we have waived that right.
No person other than you and Teresa Johnston Counselling has any right to enforce these Terms and Conditions, unless the law says otherwise.
20. Governing law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the law of Scotland.
If you are a consumer, you may also benefit from mandatory rights and protections available under the law of the country in which you live.
Any dispute may be dealt with by the Scottish courts, although this does not remove any right you may have to bring a claim in another court where applicable consumer law allows this.
